VENTURA, Calif. (AP) – An autopsy shows 15-year-old junior high
student Lawrence King died of head wounds.
The boy was taken off life support Friday, three days after
being shot at school in Oxnard, California, allegedly by
14-year-old Brandon McInerney. McInerney is now being charged with
premeditated murder and authorities want to try him as an adult.
They have also labeled it a hate crime. Classmates say King was
targeted because he often came to school dressed in feminine
attire, including high-heel shoes.
As he was taken off life support, doctors removed some of the
boy’s organs for transplant.
