Local Judge Dead from Apparent Heart Attack

A well-known Butte County judge has died.  Retired judge Darrell Stevens suffered an apparent heart attack Tuesday in Chico.  He spent more than 15 years serving as a local judge and was a driving force behind the local Drug Court program. Stevens was 70 years old.

Council Approves Emergency Money for Chico Shelter

School Lockdown Lifted in Shasta County

Three Shasta County schools briefly locked down Tuesday.  According to the Record-Searchlight, North Cottonwood Middle School, along with East and West Cottonwood elementaries were affected.  The lockdown lasted about 30 minutes… deputies were alerted to a suicidal woman across the street from the middle school.  The woman was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
