Poll Looks at Opinion of CA Economy

SACRAMENTO (AP) - A new poll has found that 72 percent of Californians believe the state has fallen into a recession. An even larger percentage - 76 percent - expect the gloomy economic times to last through the coming year. The survey of 2,002 adults by the Public Policy Institute of California also finds that the state’s residents are warming to the
idea of using a combination of tax increases and spending cuts to cope with the state’s 8 billion dollar budget deficit. Forty-two percent said they favor a mix of cuts and tax hikes.  That’s up from 36 percent in a poll taken in December. Only 30 percent support a cuts-only approach. The poll has margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
