A surprise in a Tehama County courtroom Tuesday. The mother and son accused of stealing an elderly woman’s pension money and unlawfully disposing of her body pleaded guilty to one felony and one misdemeanor. Both Kathleen Allmond and Tony Ray had previously pled not guilty to all charges. Tehama District Attorney Greg Cohen says they now both go straight to sentencing December 22nd. Prosecutors charge the two cashed in elderly Ramona Allmond’s PERS checks after cremating the woman in Corning last year. Cohen says the other charges of grand theft can be considered by the judge during the sentencing of the defendants.
