SACRAMENTO (AP) – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has again declared
a fiscal emergency and called lawmakers into a special session to
deal with California’s more than $11 billion budget deficit. The
governor says the state will run out of cash by February if there
isn’t bold action. Lawmakers failed to reach a compromise during
the special session Schwarzenegger declared last month, pushing the
problem to the new Legislature that was sworn in yesterday.
