come up with its own budget proposal for California. The state

SACRAMENTO (AP) – Gay and lesbian lawmakers want the Legislature
to take a stand against California’s gay marriage ban. They have
introduced a non-binding resolution opposing Proposition 8. It says
the voter-approved initiative was an improper revision of the state
constitution. Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg also
sponsored the measure.

Chico’s new mayor is Ann Schwabb. The former Vice Mayor takes over the figurehead position after being selected at Tuesday night’s Chicocity Council meeting. Re-elected councilors Andy Holcombe, Larry Wahl, Schwab, and newcomer Jim Walker were sworn in at the meeting. Tom Nikel becomes the new Vice Mayor.
