The package that caused the evacuation of Congressman Wally Herger’s Chico office proved to be harmless. A bomb squad robot retrieved the package Monday after a Herger staffer saw an unidentified man leave it on the counter. Chico Police Spokeswoman Linda Dye says authorities don’t know the the man’s name.

Chico Police arrest two alleged SUV thieves, but not before they crash the vehicle into a house. The incident happened Tuesday morning when a CHP officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the 900 block of Manzanita. Police gave chase and the truck ended up crashing into a house at 5th and Mangrove. More shaking in northern California. Two more small earthquakes reported in the Quincy area Tuesday. The largest of the the two had a magnitude of 2.7, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
