In a few months, work could get underway on a new low income housing project in Northeast Chico. The City Council tonight could give the final go ahead to execute a more than 700 thousand dollar loan to the Community Housing Improvement Program, or CHIP.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – The state will pay $335,000 to settle a lawsuit stemming from a crash involving former state Sen. Carole Migden. Supervising Deputy Attorney General Steven Gevercer said Monday state officials have agreed to pay the sum to 33-year-old Ellen Butawan. A traffic stop in Red Bluff turned into a cockfighting bust. Police say they stopped a vehicle Sunday and found illegal cockfighting roosters and “fighting spurs.” Jose Trujillo and Eulester Dagio were arrested.
