It’s expensive making sure Chico residents celebrate Halloween in a safe manner. The media campaign alone costs 10-thousand dollars. Chico Police set aside money each year in the department budget for costs, but Chief Mike Maloney says the true cost won’t be known until after the holiday weekend.

The Oroville man accused of killing his wife earlier this week has pleaded not guilty in court. 52 year old Steven Zornes is facing an open count of murder following the stabbing death of Katherine Allen. The suspect will return to court in November for a preliminary hearing.
