Legislative Republicans Thursday announced their plan for a balanced budget without tax increases. The plan calls for cutting state worker pay and cutting welfare to work. Assemblyman Jim Nielsen says some of these ideas have been suggested before. He says the Governor’s measure for a tax increase in November would just provide more money to carry on business as usual. The plan also calls for eliminating local affordable housing funds, which would save more than a billion dollars.
