Some lawmakers and business people are hoping to smooth the transition for California National Guard members looking for jobs. The State Assembly recently donated a half million dollars to establish the “Work for Warriors” program that matches the skills of National Guard members with the hiring needs of employers. National Guard Major General David Baldwin says he’s hoping the program reduces unemployment in the Guard by 25 percent. California is home to the largest and most frequently deployed National Guard in the county, deploying more than 37 thousand times since 9-11.
