SANFORD, Fla. (AP) – George Zimmerman’s lawyer says he’s certain that Florida’s “stand your ground” self-defense law will be part of Zimmerman’s defense against a second-degree murder charge in the killing of an unarmed teenager. Mark O’Mara is expected to soon ask the judge in the case for a hearing focusing on that law, which gives people a broad right to use deadly force without having to retreat from a fight. But first, he will try to get Zimmerman out of jail while the legal process continues. He says there will be a hearing next week to determine if Zimmerman will be allowed to post bail. Zimmerman was in court yesterday for four minutes, his first appearance since he was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin. He didn’t enter a plea during the hearing, though his lawyer had previously said he will plead not guilty. Zimmerman attorney looks to free him on bail
