Tehama County leaders moving forward on the idea of a vehicle maintenance facility operated by jail inmates. Tehama County Sheriff Dave Hencratt tells KPAY the project would involve about a dozen low-risk offenders who would work at the facility during the day and go home at night. Hencratt says money for the program has been set aside using prison realignment funding. He adds one possible location for the facility is in Red Bluff by the fairgrounds. The Sheriff says a lease could be negotiated in June, with the project heading back before the Board of Supervisors for approval this summer.
