The complex issue of crafting a medical marijuana cultivation ordinance again goes before Butte County leaders Tuesday. The county tried to regulate the growing of medical marijuana but a referendum defeated it at the polls. Sang Kim with the County Administrative Office says the Board can do nothing, fix what’s wrong with the previous ordinance, or create a special committee. Kim says one of the many difficulties in crafting an ordinance is that growing medical marijuana may be legal in California, but it’s against federal law and can lead to illegal activities.
