Butte County is bucking national statistics when it comes to the confiscation of marijuana plants. New national figures show there’s a decline in confiscated marijuana but that does not apply to Butte County. Butte County Sheriff Jerry Smith says Butte has its share of large illegal grows on federal lands. He says Butte will see the same or possibly more marijuana plants seized in 2012. That comes to about 100 thousand plants. Federal figures show the number of plants seized from outdoor and indoor grows dropped over the last two years. But Smith says it’s exactly the opposite in Butte County.
