Federal officials say the Chips Fire burning near Belden is 10 percent contained. That blaze, which began at the end of July, has burned more than 13 thousand acres in the Feather River Canyon. Fire Information officer Alissa Tanner says the steep, rugged terrain is adding to the challenges facing fire crews. The US Forest Service says the Chips Fire may not be contained until August 21st. At last report, 26 homes were threatened. Tanner says the town of Paradise, Jarbo Gap, and Concow are not threatened.
