Cal-Fire says the Ponderosa Fire has burned 64 homes and 20 outbuildings. Currently 540 structures are still threatened by the blaze in Tehama and Shasta counties. California state fire spokesman Daniel Berlant says it’s frustrating that the Ponderosa fire continues to spread, despite their efforts. Cal-Fire says the blaze continued to burn in the Battle Creek drainage toward the town of Mineral Wednesday. At last report, the Ponderosa Fire has burned 24 thousand acres and is 55 percent contained.
Meanwhile, firefighters expecting full containment of the Mill Fire near Butte Meadows today. That blaze has scorched more than 1600 acres.
