Two Chico area residents have been booked into the local jail on charges of burglary and identity theft following a month long investigation. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office says Elizabeth Holcraft and Kristopher Castro were arrested earlier this month in Clearlake. Officials say the two are accused of stealing mail, cashing checks, and developing credit information on the victims to pay for goods, services, and hotels. Those identity theft reportedly covered an area from Butte County to Fort Bragg and Reno. The Sheriff’s Office says US Postal Inspectors have assumed investigation into additional mail theft victims.
