Cal-Fire decreasing the number of homes destroyed by the Ponderosa Fire. The agency says assessment teams are still evaluating the damage, but it appears 52 homes and 90 outbuildings were destroyed by the lightning sparked blaze. At last report, the fire in Tehama and Shasta counties was 80 percent contained after burning more than 27 thousand acres. Full containment is expected today. Cal-Fire says all residents and property owners within the fire’s perimeter were allowed back into their homes this weekend.
Meanwhile, the Chips Fire burning in the Lassen and Plumas National Forest is 65 percent contained. That blaze has grown to more than 68 thousand acres. The US Forest Service says containment lines held despite gusty winds over the fire area Sunday.
