The Butte County Sheriff’s Department is about to beef up its force–by adding a 4 legged employee. The K-9 comes through the donation of several local groups. Sheriff Jerry Smith says the dog originally comes from a vendor that’s proven reliable in giving them the right dog. This dog will be experienced in personal protection for the handler and sniffing out drugs. The dog was purchased using 7 thousand dollars of local donations. Today the Supervisors are expected to say yes to acceptance of the funds and the use of the canine.
