Chico Police say they are prepared for what they expect to be a busy Labor Day weekend. Police say they expect a spike in calls for service, violence, alcohol-related incidents, and crowd control problems starting today. Police say they have extra patrol staffing and will get assistance from the CHP, local sheriff’s offices, probation officers, and Alcohol Beverage Control. DUI checkpoints are planned for today and Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office telling people to be careful while celebrating Labor Day on the Sacramento River, with the lower water level increasing the amount of snags and other obstacles that could pose a problem.
