CA Prison Guard Injured by Inmate in Folsom

FOLSOM, Calif. (AP) – California prison officials are investigating after an inmate slashed a guard across the neck over the weekend. The guard survived but required dozens of stitches. Officials said 39-year-old Jonathan McClaurin tried to kill the 33-year-old correctional officer Sunday night at California State Prison, Sacramento. The prison is in Folsom, east of Sacramento. Corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton says the officer was cut on the neck, jaw and ear with a razor melted into a toothbrush handle. The guard received 68 stitches before being released from a hospital.

  1. This should now happen. These guards are not paid enough to subject themselves to this. I hope the guard fully recovers. He will be traumatized the rest of his life.

I’m really disgusted by the way we have let the prisoners get out of hand with “their rights”. I recently heard that some of them get sex enhancement therapy (to enlarge their breasts and make them appealing) at a cost of $7,000. every three weeks. As a taxpayer, how does that make you feel? This guard gets stabbed in the neck, why doesn’t this prisoner get the Death Penalty for hurting an officer? Maybe he’s already on Death Row and hasn’t exhausted his appellate rights?
