Two arrested in alleged Willows kidnapping

WILLOWS, Calif. (AP) – Authorities have arrested two people they say abducted two young girls from the Glenn County community of Willows. Police say two-year-old Randi Martinez and her five-year-old sister, Vanessa, were taken from their mother, Nancy Martinez, as the three visited family members Friday morning. After an Amber alert was issued, a motorist called 911 around 2:30 p.m. and reported a car fitting the description of the car police were looking for on Highway 101. The California Highway Patrol pulled the car over and arrested 30-year-old Leonard Dale Tuttle Jr. He was booked on suspicion of kidnapping and child stealing. Police say Tuttle is the mother’s ex-boyfriend. Then around 8 p.m. Friday, police also arrested 45-year-old Melissa Britton. She was booked on the same charges. Willows police Sgt. Carl Walter says Britton is believed to have taken part in the alleged kidnapping. The children were not hurt.
