Phone Call Prompts Lock-Down at Several Chico Schools Wednesday

A phone call to Chico High School Wednesday morning prompted several schools to go into lock-down mode. Chico Police Sgt. Rob Merrifield says it was a precautionary lock-down.  Merrifield says the young man who called the school made statements that he was suicidal and armed with a gun. Another call reportedly suggested the man was apparently holed up in a residence near Chico High and Chico Junior High School. Many schools remained in lock-down mode until just after 2 PM. At last report, Chico Police say they were trying to identify and arrest the man who placed the threatening phone calls.
