Fire Crews Battle Blaze in Upper Bidwell, Fire north of Butte Meadows Continues to Burn

Cal-Fire says no residents are threatened by the Windy Fire north of Butte Meadows, however there are outbuildings that are threatened. The fire began Sunday afternoon and at last report, has burned 120 acres. Cal-Fire says the cause of the blaze is under investigation and there is no estimated time of containment. According to the agency, windy conditions were a challenge to fire crews. The fire is burning in a remote area in the Deer Creek Canyon.

Meanwhile, a fire in a Chico park that burned about 20 acres this weekend caused nearby residents to evacuate. Sunday’s fire in Upper Bidwell Park began just before 4 PM. Ten engines responded to the area to fight the flames. Residents on Centennial Avenue were evacuated.  No word yet on the cause of that blaze.
