Fire Crews Battle Flames in Tehama County and Redding

Tehama County authorities say a mobile home and travel trailer were destroyed in a blaze that spread to 56 acres Tuesday. The cause of the fire on Skyline Drive is under investigation. Cal-Fire’s Kevin Colburn says one family was displaced by the fire, which also burned vehicles. Damage is estimated to be $280,000.

REDDING, Calif. (AP) – Redding firefighters have contained a brush fire that was sparked by kids that threatened a subdivision and apartment complex. Officials say the 20-acre blaze was started Tuesday by three children under 10 years old who were playing with fire. Deputy Fire Chief Gerry Gray says the children have been released to parents who could be held liable for the costs of fighting the fire. The fire burned in a canyon near where another fire swept through about a year ago.
