Fires Continue to Burn in NorCal; Sites Fire Complex now 50% Contained

A fire in Colusa County has grown to 3700 acres, but the Sites Complex Fire is 50 percent contained.  CalFire says more than 1300 fire personnel are helping to fight the blaze.

WILLITS, Calif. (AP) – Federal fire officials say a wildfire in the Mendocino National Forest has grown to more 10,000 acres, forcing the closure of campgrounds and the evacuation of a handful of homes. Fire information officer Adrienne Freeman says officials were able to get a better estimate of the size of the fire late Monday by using aircraft. The fire is 10 percent contained. More than 700 firefighters are battling the blaze as it burns in rugged terrain near Letts Lake. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
