Fire South of Red Bluff Caused by Mowing Grass

Authorities have determined the cause of a Tehama County fire that destroyed a home and burned 94 acres this week. CalFire says the Cody Fire began Monday night south of Red Bluff. Battalion Chief Matt Shamblin says the blaze was caused by mowing grass.  The fire also reportedly burned several outbuildings. Preliminary damage estimates are at a half million dollars.  Shamblin says crews were able to save an estimated 5 million dollars worth of structures and property.
