Chico’s Noise Ordinance Could See Future Revisions

Chico’s noise ordinance dominated the Chico City Council meeting Tuesday night. Several dozen citizens spoke before the council, either calling the current ordinance ineffective or criticizing proposed changes that would have removed a written warning requirement. In the end, the council voted to have the city attorney draft changes to the ordinance that would extend the warning time period and include a graduated fine structure for repeat offenders.  During the meeting, City Councilmember Andy Holcombe said the ordinance is trying to address a “lack of social responsibility.”
